Kelly's Pick & Pairings
"I was inbetween book club books, and checked Libby for an audiobook that was available. We've featured another book by this author on Page & Pairing before (The Dead Romantics), so I thought it was the perfect romcom to fill my book club gap. The storyline is very unique and has kept me wanting to stay in my car to hear what happens next. I am very eager to make a batch of honey taffy to enjoy with a dirty chai!"
Shannon's Pick & Pairings
"What if a woman was the genius behind Shakespeare’s plays? In her latest novel, Picoult brilliantly speculates the fascinating life of Emilia Bassano, Shakespeare’s real-life contemporary, and crafts a compelling case for her authorship. This book would pair nicely with A Midwinter Night’s Dram and with the effervescent jukebox musical, & Juliet, in which Juliet gets a second chance at life and jokes at Shakespeare’s expense abound."
Alex's Pick & Pairings
"There is a lot of judgement to moms for how they want to raise their children. The most important thing when raising a child though is making sure they are loved and cared for. Though a more unique approach than the typical PTA mom, that's what Florence does here with her son. She loves him so much, she might even have to cover up a kidnapping / murder all to save her sweet son, Dylan, who has a pet turtle (hence the pairing) and seemingly wouldn't hurt a fly. This book is funny and suspenseful!"
Jane's Pick & Pairings
"Wendi Aarons isn’t going quietly into midlife — she’s storming in, tunic-first and ready to raise the roof of the PTA or Whole Foods aisle. With sharp wit and zero apologies, she tackles aging, parenting, and womanhood like a Gen X boss who’s just discovered linen and doesn’t care what you think. This is perfect book club fare: sharp, real, and laugh-out-loud funny with just enough heart to get the group chat buzzing. I've paired it with another gloriously unfiltered roadmap of early Gen X womanhood — awkward phases, bodily betrayal, and all. And why the iced honey lavender lattes? Because the lavender soothes the existential dread, the honey reminds us of our once-sweet knees, and the ice—well, that’s for the joints we now sprain in our sleep."
