This Month's Book Recommendations & Recipe Pairings

Spring has officially arrived! Along with the warmer weather comes a to-do list that's grows faster than the lawn. The weeds are trying to overtake the flowers. And that mountain of mulch in the driveway isn't going to spread itself, but our editorial team hasn't slowed down. We're currently championing the art of productive procrastination.

We believe that for every hour spent in the garden, at least 30 minutes should be spent with a good book (and perhaps a mimosa enjoyed on the porch). From high-stakes romantic dramas to the kind of contemporary romance that feels like a spring breeze, here's what books and recipe pairings we’re digging into this month.

Kelly's Pick

I read this for my book club and loved it! The storyline takes place over decades in and around North Carolina, so it felt natural to pair the Fast Forward coffee blend. Plus, coffee plays a  significant part in a storyline. The other pairing is a book about eggs. Mr. Heart the Lover and Jordan (IYKYK) make eggs together on multiple occasions. I could totally see them making all these recipes.

I will never stop talking about how wonderful The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston is—and I’m not stopping now. This charming, heartfelt novel playfully answers the question: what if a ghostwriter fell in love with a ghost? What truly surprised me, though, was how quickly this book became a safe space, offering comfort that you don’t expect with a romance novel . It’s equal parts entertaining, comforting, and completely addictive.

Jane's Pick

This novel layers its emotional punch with unsettling tech questions that linger. At its core, it’s about a single, devastating moment and the long shadow it casts on a family. No comfort vibes here but pairings that reflect tension and quiet intensity.

Katelynn's Pick

A suspenseful thriller on the set of a reality tv show? Count me in! Four couples are contestants on a new show called "One Perfect Couple" on a remote island in the Indian Ocean,  but once a storm cuts them off from the outside world, things turn deadly. A Love Island meets Lord of the Flies adventure, it will leave you thinking, "who signs up for this?!"
